2025 Competition Season Wrap: From State Pathway to National Gold

The 2025 competition season has been one of the biggest years yet for our Tactics Taekwondo athletes. From the State Championship pathway through to the National stage, our team showed what happens when hard work, smart training, and a supportive club community come together.

2025 Competition Season Wrap: From State Pathway to National Gold

This year wasn’t just about medals—it was about resilience, confidence under pressure, and learning how to perform when it matters most.

The road to Nationals starts at State level

Competition success doesn’t happen overnight. For our athletes, Nationals is earned through consistent training and strong performances through the State Championship pathway—building fitness, sharpening tactics, and developing ring awareness along the way.

Every training block, every round, every lesson—these are the stepping stones that turn a good athlete into a great competitor.

Athlete spotlight: Danielle Kellond – National Champion (2025)

A standout moment from 2025 was Danielle Kellond’s National Championship gold, backing up her previous National success and proving she can perform at the highest level again when the pressure is on.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that it didn’t come easy. Danielle faced a significant year of change—moving up in size and recovering from a broken arm that interrupted training for several months. Despite the setbacks, she pushed through the toughest matches and found a way to win when it counted.

In the gold medal match, Danielle edged a tight contest 2–0, scoring with a clean back-leg roundhouse kick—the kind of composed, high-percentage technique that wins championships.

Danielle’s long-term goal is just as inspiring: she’s aiming to represent Australia at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, and 2025 is another powerful step in that journey.

Why families choose Tactics for competition development

Danielle’s family shared that they moved to Tactics Taekwondo in Campbelltown in pursuit of a higher standard of training—more structure, more conditioning, and more focused coaching time.

That’s exactly what we work hard to deliver:

  • organised performance-focused sessions
  • fitness and conditioning that supports real match outcomes
  • a training environment where athletes get genuine coaching attention
  • a culture that builds confidence and discipline, not ego

We’re proud to be a club that supports athletes who want to compete—and equally proud of the families who commit to the process alongside them.

Thank you to our athletes, families, and coaches

Competition seasons are built on community. Thank you to every athlete who trained through the hard weeks, every parent who made the travel and early starts possible, and every coach who gave their time and energy to develop our team.

Looking ahead to 2026

The momentum from 2025 sets us up for an exciting 2026 season. With athletes progressing through age divisions and continuing to develop their skills, our focus remains the same: train smart, build strong foundations, and perform with confidence and respect.
